Coconut oil is cold pressed from the fruit of palm trees. It’s high saturated fat content has excellent emollient properties, that help the skin retain its moisture. It is useful in soap for it’s lathering and moisture attributes. It’s natural stearic acid is widely used in emulsification.
such as body lotion. Coconut oil can be considered an anomaly of oils because the right percentage can be moisturizing, yet too much can be drying.
Olive oil is high in anti-oxidants. Its super skin-penetrating, yet creates a breathable layer that prevents internal moisture loss and it does not block the
natural functions of the skin, unlike some oils.
Jojoba oil enhances the production of collagen and elastin, which are important for strong and healthy-looking skin. Jojoba oil is helpful for eczema,
psoriasis, wrinkles and irritated skin. Jojoba oil and the salts are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Linoleic acid and the antioxidants present
in jojoba oil helps in regenerating the skin cells.
Stearic acid is one of many fatty acids that occur naturally in various plants and animal derivatives. It’s found in such products as animal tallow, cocoa butter
and vegetable fats. Ours is plant based from coconut and/or palm.
Grape Seed Oil is a great source of polyphenols, flavonoids, essential fatty acids, linoleic acid and vitamin E. It enhances the production of collagen and
elastin, which is important for strong and healthy looking skin.
Cetearyl Alcohol is a mixture of fatty alcohols consisting predominantly of cetyl and stearyl alcohols found in plants, like coconut and palm oils (Wiki).
It’s not an “alcohol” like one would think of as ethyl or rubbing alcohol, it’s a wax used for emulsifications. It being “derived” from vegetable sources tell
me that it may have started out natural, but then became processed and the end result is not.
Polysorbate 60 is produced in a chemical reaction between ethylene oxide, sorbitol, and stearic acid. Here again, sorbitol is a sugar alcohol naturally found in fruits and stearic acid is a natural fat, but the resulting product polysorbate 60 is not natural.
